“Woman of Excellence” Lurdes Medina Is A Nominee for the NLBWA-LA 12th Annual Awards

LOS ANGELES, June 23, 2015 – Honoring “Women of Excellence”, the National Latina Business Women Association, Los Angeles Chapter (NLBWA-LA) announced their list of nominees for the award, which included Bella Sol The Salon owner Lurdes Medina. Her passion for entrepreneurship and her work with various charity projects, allows her to successfully tie her business into her nonprofit work.

The 12th Annual Awards Gala will recognize exceptional Latina women and professionals working or living in the Metropolitan Los Angeles and surrounding communities. This event will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the legendary Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, California. The evening’s emcee this year is Gabriela Tessier, host of Univision’s morning show “Primera Edicion.”

“Our organization is proud to promote the rapid growth of Latinas in business, which is a tremendous growth market. Through our Awards we acknowledge successful women that make a difference in their business and community,” said Rose E. Sauceda, President, NLBWA-LA.

As a small business owner, Lurdes continues to push for equality in the workplace and create job opportunities through business partnerships, helping the economic growth of the surrounding region. She recently joined the NLBWA-LA after she learned about the organization’s mission to encourage women to develop their business and professional skills and to exceed their career goals through education, business referrals and networking.

Lurdes is a member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as well, and belonging to diverse organizations allows for a better connection of key influencers in the Los Angeles region. Living by the desire to empower others around her, Lurdes gives back through her business as well as being actively involved in various nonprofit organizations. She actively works to fill the needs of those organizations she serves.

Additional awards will be presented at this year’s ceremony in the following categories:  Legacy Award; Business Women Award; Trailblazer Award; Community Advocate; Emerging Latina/Rising Star Award.
